Professional Mariner magazine was founded in 1993 to serve owners and operators of commercial maritime vessels of all types in the U.S. and Canada. The magazine is owned by Navigator Publishing LLC which also owns and publishes Ocean Navigator magazine. Head offices are in Portland, Maine, with key colleagues located across the U.S. In addition to the print magazine which comes out 11 times per year, Professional Mariner publishes e-mail newsletters, this website and a digital replica of the print magazine which reaches readers around the world. Special issues called American Tugboat Review and American Ship Review cover shipbuilding while regular issues cover training and licensing, maritime casualties, technology, engineering and regulatory trends and issues.
