Sainsbury’s Magazine – November 2019
Can you feel it? That flutter of excitement knowing that ‘the most wonderful time of the year’ is just around the corner and all the pleasures of anticipation are upon you and your loved ones? But, let’s face it, along with excitment comes the stress and anxiety — especially for those of us that have the cooking and hosting to do. Meals to plan, freezers to stock, bakes to make and a shedload of shopping to be done goes with the territory, but never fear, our crack team of food experts have come to the rescue.
Firstly with a failsafe Christmas lunch plan for those of us who don’t have decades of experience of getting the turkey just right and all those trimmings on the table in time — find it and the delicious recipes on page 48. Then, for cooks who love the romance of family Christmas traditions, three of our favourite chefs share their family’s must-cook recipes for Christmas Eve on page 28. The 24th December has always been a special night for me too — with my Polish/EngIish heritage we have traditionally celebrated both Christmas Eve and the big day with different foods. Always a beetroot soup and fish on Christmas Eve and then the big bird on 25th.
What are your family’s traditions? We’d love to hear about them, so do let us know using the contact details below, and do keep sending us pictures of recipes you make — it makes our Christmas extra special.
